VBS Work

VBS2

VBS2 (Virtual Battle Space 2) is a military simulator based off of the ‘Arma’ game franchise created by Bohemia Interactive that allows us to create custom content for use in training aids for the Canadian Forces.

Coyote Mast

One project I worked on involved taking a finished model, in this case the Coyote Mast, added it to the Coyote model and set up the animation and user actions for its VBS2 functionality. The user can raise and lower, and operate the surveillance equipment which when in use accurately displays the correct HUD with correct information.

Parachute and Smoke Grenades

We created a parachute using a helicopter class, since its the closest vehicle type we could use to even remotely achieve the movement of a parachute. This is still a work in progress, as you can see the model isn’t fully completed yet. I did a lot of testing as to how the parachute reacts to steering and the wind. I also created 4 different variety’s of color for the smoke grenades.

Leopard 2A6 Mine Removal Equipment

The modeling team created the models and textures for this object, I wrote a script for VBS2 to automatically attach the equipment to the tank and to place the dirt spoils behind the tank as it drives.

Buildings

I created this building in Oxygen2 from scratch, gave it a working door, it also has working ladders to climb to the roof and to the top of the tower.

Custom Structure

Bison MRV

The modeling team created the models and textures for this object, I brought them into Oxygen and implemented them into VBS2.  I had to set up all of the animations and the way the vehicle works and reacts in the game engine.

Ranger Helicopter

As with the other models, the modeling team created the models and textures for this object, this was the first attempt at a helicopter, there were many different things in the helicopter set up because you need to get the rotors working properly and the handling accurate.
